While studying for his BSc. in Geology at Melbourne University during the 1960's, Robert also studied singing at the Conservatorium of Music. He has maintained his interest in singing and has studied further with highly renowned vocal teachers in Perth, Sydney and Brisbane.  Robert has sung solo baritone roles in many places during his travels as a geologist. He has sung principal operetta roles at Mt Isa, been the guest artist for the Kalgoorlie Male Voice Choir and for the Orange Male Voice Choir at their Sydney Opera House debut.  Robert has sung the bass roles in Bach's Christmas Oratorio, Perth, and The Messiah and The Creation, for the Lismore CAE concerts. He has accepted solo roles with Opera Viva in Perth, Pro Musica in Brisbane, and the St Celia Chorale and for the University of St Lucia Orchestra. He has been guest artist for the Queensland Pops in their "Best of British" concert and has sung with the Queensland Lyric Opera chorus. Robert has recorded for the ABC in Brisbane and Perth and for 4MBS, Brisbane.  Robert also accompanies himself on the guitar and specializes in folk songs and ballads. He has produced a CD of Australian Folk Songs.
