Elizabeth Navratil Elizabeth Navratil has worked extensively in Brisbane, Australia and overseas. She performed in the critically acclaimed Cabaret Erratica touring to the Melbourne Fringe Festival, the National Festival of Australian Theatre in Canberra, NIDA Theatre in Sydney and in Perth.
She has worked with numerous directors including Meg Kanowski, Therese Collie, Katrina Devery, Russell Dykstra, Lowana Moxham, Annette Innes, Marcus Hughes, Annette Downs as well as working for Grin and Tonic Theatre with Bryan Nason and Cicely Berry.
Among other career highlights, she acted with Geoffrey Rush in Grin and Tonic’s Troilus and Cressida.
She was one of the original members of Pool Bitches from Hell and played the lead role in Access Arts 1995 production of ALIVE Still Life. Elizabeth is constantly up-dating and performing her own one-woman shows. Through her work, she demonstrates her on-going commitment to the transformational power of the theatre.In 1995 she wrote and performed her one-woman show Hostage of Fortune at La Boite's Shock of the New Festival. Hostage of Fortune also performed at the Brisbane Festival in 1996 and again in 1997.
In 1997-98, Elizabeth continued developing her stand-up comedy routines at the Comedy Club in Brisbane and in Perth at a DADDA festival. She performed The Upside Down Life of Liz Navratil in Adelaide at the 1998 HighBeam Festival. In July 1998, she performed in Which Way’s Up at the Metro Arts Theatre in Brisbane.
In 1999 she directed Future Shock for DADDA (WA)’s Orbit Festival in Fremantle.
2000 - Elizabeth performed three shows in the HighBeam Festival 2000 in Adelaide. She performed the principal role in the Access Arts production of ‘Ca Ca Courage’, staged at the Powerhouse in October as part of the Brisbane Festival. In 2001, she received a Commendation Certificate at the Mathilda Awards for this role.
2001 - Elizabeth was invited to perform stand-up at the Kickstart Festival in Vancouver, Canada. During 2001 she also worked as a mentor on DADAA (WA)’s XChange Project.
2002 - Elizabeth repeated her role in Ca Ca Courage, when it toured to Adelaide, Perth and Albany. She played the role of Cassandra in Troilus and Cressida for Grin and Tonic and performed her new stand-up comedy ‘Flipside’ at Metro Arts’ Solo Smart Festival. Elizabeth facilitated a Radio play workshop and the re-writes with AAI. She was also honoured to perform her stand-up comedy at the opening of the 5th National Performance Conference in Brisbane.
2003 - Elizabeth was honoured with a Centenary Medal for service to the performing arts as a comedian and as an advocate for people with disabilities.
